The People's Policy Council

Our country is experiencing significant changes as a result of federal government actions. However, it is not yet clear how those changes will impact communities at the regional and local level. Communities need ways to make sense of those changes, anticipate what the impacts will be, and propose policy solutions to candidates, elected officials, state and local governments, and federal agencies.

The goal of the People’s Policy Council is to strengthen collective sense-making and problem-solving in counties across the country. We convene local government leaders, business leaders, civil society groups, and everyday citizens and help them use data and AI-enabled policy tools to predict likely futures for the American people. We facilitate these communities in policy discussions to propose solutions for continuously improving quality of life in their counties.

The People's Policy Councils produce the following results:

• Define A North Star: The Policy Councils define a vision and a set of measurable indicators for tracking quality of life at the national, state, local, and Congressional District level.
• Make Sense of Real-Time Data on Local Economies and Quality of Life: The Policy Councils regularly review and make sense of data and analysis of trends that impact their economy and quality-of-life.
• Plan for Present and Future Scenarios: The Policy Councils assess and plan for future challenges and opportunities.
• Strengthen Intergovernmental Collaboration and Implementation: Policy Councils produce forecasts and policy proposals that help federal, state, and local governments, as well as the private sector and civil society, to align on common needs and work together for better outcomes for everyone.
